A public meeting on the part of the investigation into the flooding that is dealing with Glen Cairn will be held on Wednesday, May 19 at Holy Trinity Catholic High School at 180 Katimavik Road.
The schedule for the meeting is as follows:

7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. – Formal Presentation
8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. – Question and Answer session
At the meeting the people working on the investigation will be providing greater detail on the causes of the flooding and will talk about potential solutions.
NEW RESTRICTIONS WILL HELP REMOVE THE PROBLEM OF STORM WATER FROM AREAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION CONTRIBUTING TO FLOODING PROBLEMS
Last July, a partially built development did not have all of the measures in place to prevent the storm water management system from being overwhelmed in heavy rains. This contributed to the problem of storm water getting into the sanitary and storm sewer systems and causing backups.
Last Fall, I moved a motion instructing staff to put measures in place to address this problem. Temporary measures will be going to the next Council meeting for approval and a report with permanent restrictions is coming to the next Planning and Environment Committee meeting.
Under the new restrictions, a flow limiting plate must be used in the connection between a new development and the City’s storm sewer system until all inlet control devices are properly installed and inspected. The permanent restrictions will include similar restrictions for sanitary sewer connections.
